The ROG Zephyrus G14, my favorite AMD gaming laptop, is $300 at Best Buy

The Asus Zephyrus G14 is my favorite all-AMD gaming laptop, and today the latest-gen model is cheap at Best Buy. This spec packs a Ryzen 9 6900HS CPU, Radeon RX 6700S GPU, 1TB NVMe SSD, 16GB DDR5, and a 14-inch 1440p 120Hz display – and it’s been discounted from $1650 to $1350, letting you save $300. It’s an incredible price for this level of performance, all in a compact 14-inch chassis that’s easy to carry or use on the go.

My love affair with the G14 has been going on for some time, but the latest generation G14 reviewed by James earlier this year represents the absolute pinnacle of the Taiwanese company’s achievement. He tested the top-end version with an RX 6800S GPU, but the general lessons still apply here – performance is solid, with the machine fully capable of running AAA games at 1440p 60fps, while titles esports players can make excellent use of the 120Hz refresh rate. The screen looks great, with its taller 16:10 aspect ratio, good contrast and accurate colors, and the keyboard and trackpad are great performers too – great if you like to churn out articles about deals in the train, to take a completely random example.

Gaming battery life is the only real downside, with James logging under an hour of use in Shadow of the Tomb Raider at max brightness…although the more modest components in this model should also hold their own. translate into better longevity. Ray-tracing isn’t a strength either, like other all-AMD versions, and the lack of DLSS is a shame in a world where FSR 2.0 hasn’t yet been widely adopted despite relatively strong results. Still, these are fairly common weaknesses among other laptops with the same specs, so there’s really little to complain about with Asus’ design decisions.

If you’re in the market for a gaming laptop, grab some reviews of the G14 – including ours! – and consider buying this one while it’s available at its discounted price!
